So you've completed your session, I've posted a sneak peek or maybe you even have your whole gallery already and now you want to share them with your family and friends. But, did you know that there's a right and a wrong way to do it? Or rather, even a legal and illegal way to do it? I've put together some tips on how to share your images the right way, preserving their quality and taking the guesswork out of it for you!

Let's get into it.

Do's

Do Spread The Word📸

It's always nice to give credit, whether it was your bestie or a professional photographer that took the photo. In the case of a professional photographer, when you link back their page it helps us grow our business and meet more clients like you! I work with THE BEST clients and referrals are the best way to meet more amazing people like you to work with.

  • Do tell your friends and family about your session and where they can see your preview posted. You can invite friends by clicking Invite your friends to like this Page on the right side of the page under Community.
  • Do use the share button on the Facebook album, post or individual picture to share with all of your friends.
  • Do tag yourself and your friends.
  • Do make the photo your profile photo
  • To do so, go to the image you'd like to use on the Samantha Block Photography Facebook page. Once the image is opened, you'll see a menu bar at the bottom of the image (see image below). Select Make Profile Picture.

Dont's

Don't alter or reproduce the image in any way. Did you know this is actually against federal law? Yikes! Ok so here's what this means...

DON'T SCREENSHOT (REPRODUCE) YOUR IMAGES.

If you're taking a screenshot of an image, then re-uploading it to share again or somewhere else, it will reduce the quality of your image. There's a better way. I promise.

If you're screenshotting images and then re-uploading them (like on the left), you're working too hard; but you're also reducing the quality. Uploading images to Facebook on its own notoriously reduces image quality, so doing it a second time will just do it more so. Plus, depending on the image and how you do it, could make the crop wonky. This is also one small (and free) way you can support a small business! By sharing from a business' page, it'll link directly back to the page to help future clients find them too.

Facebook Preview - Use the "share" button below the album or on the individual image. To make it your profile or cover photo, go to the image you'd like, click on the menu (three dots) in the upper right corner and select "Make Profile Picture" or "Make Cover Photo."

Instagram Post Preview - Click the "share" (paper airplane) button below the image and add it to your story.

Instagram Story Preview - Click the "share" (paper airplane) button at the bottom of the screen and add it to your story.

Your Gallery - Use the "share arrow" at the bottom right of the image you'd like to share and then click the appropriate link to the platform you'd like to share it to.

DON'T EDIT (ALTER) THE IMAGES.

Yes, it's against the law to add a filter over your image, crop out a watermark/logo, use an app to adjust the exposure, saturation, etc. Basically anything that changes the image that was delivered to you.

There is no shortage of photographers out there these days and with that a variety of options to choose from based on the style you're drawn to. If you choose me to document your special moments, I hope one of the leading factors in why you chose me was because you liked how I edit. Please know lots and lots of time has gone into perfecting my style and I put lots of work into your images. It truly breaks our little photographer hearts to see an Instagram filter slapped over a photo we but love into.
